For over 400 years, racism has plagued America.  From slavery to modern times racism has troubled our nation in many ways.  The feeling, attitude, or belief that one race is better than another is a very perverse way for anyone to think.  When it comes to racism there are iconic symbols in American history.  The rebel flag in its many different variations’ has a toxic reputation of racism.  It’s the rebel flag and its many different forms that must be removed from all states’ capitol buildings.

            The rebel flag itself has flown for many years during and after the civil war.  Regardless of the after effects of the civil war the rebel flag to me is a device of evil.  Now I do know that in those days of the civil war only rich men owned slaves.  In those days a man who was considered a planter was automatically freed of duty having to fight in the civil war.  A planter was a man who was able to afford 20 slaves or more.  With this being stated The Civil War was a rich man’s war but a poor man’s fight.  It’s information like this that prolongs racism in many different ways.  For example, since a poor white man had to fight in The Civil War and a rich white man was entitled not too, this showcased the divisions within society in those times.  So a poor white man had to use slavery to subject himself higher than a slave.  So the poor white man had to convince himself that he was better than a slave just because he was white.  I also have reason to believe that in order to keep the balance of power at hand the rich white man feed the same lie to the poor white man.  With this unjust diabolical method he used this to keep his stronghold on both the slave and the poor white man.  As I know these dangerous fallacies still continue to provoke racial tension in many different ways.  Many rich whites and poor whites still feel wrongfully entitled to everything.  A former slave to become a free man is not supposed to have anything.  It was these systematic lies that made the situation of racism even more problematic in those times and now.  As a result the rebel flag continues to be an iconic symbol of racism and crazy ignorant bigotry.

            With the divisions of races and the evil process of slavery I believe the rebel flag is used to preach racial segregation.  Many whites say that to remove the rebel flag would not change anything.  Their argument is that you can’t change history.  With this I strongly disagree because history you can’t change but at the same time with proper education you can change how people think.  For example many whites have said to me “We don’t treat yall like that anymore so you can’t say we are racist.”  With this I say the damage that was done way back then cannot be changed also.  To expand on my point is the physical, emotional, and spiritual damage that was done back then still affects blacks today.  The racism endured by the black race has damaged the overall psyche of all blacks young and old.  So by taking down the rebel flag for me is not about trying to change history but it is about trying to repair or rehabilitate the black psyche.

            If the rebel flag is removed from all state capitols it can change the perspectives of younger people and generations to come.  As the rebel flag continues to fly it only promotes racism.  The racism that is produced by the rebel flag is evil in all forms that destroys the unity of our nation.  The belief of one race is better than the other is a sick and twisted way of thinking. It is very dangerous and explosive to races all over the world and America.  The confederate flag must come down to preserve and protect the future of all American citizens. America is a divided nation which must find unity to survive.  One way I believe to do so is to remove the rebel flag of all state capitols.  The idea of you can’t change history must be revamped to we can’t change history but we can change the future that the present brings on.  By starting with the youth being the future we can reeducate them to build a better tomorrow.  So to remove the rebel flag from our state capitols is a must for America’s future.

Why Can Anyone Get a Gun?

Anyone can get a gun

Mental

or not mental

still guns are detrimental

killing people.

Like anything else

they can be used

and abused

by those who have a short fuse.

Yet gun control

is an issue that we must defuse.

So many are confused

and sick

causing many to die so quick.

Regardless of religion, age, or race

guns erase

and don’t discriminate.

A bullet has but one name

Anybody, anywhere , and at anytime

and that’s pain

to see someone slain.

Rather innocent

or guilty

guns leave many lives filthy.

When someone dies

a mother cries

and death we eternalize.

While it is the same for the predator

who takes life

in the form of murder.

Now although every man

and woman

who owns guns will

purposely unjustly kill

yet the ways of the world are so sick

twisted and ill.

While others are labeled crazy

because they take a pill

still if we can’t

get control

of the gun control issue

then many more will die due to

the misuse of a gun.

So if you use a gun

please use it with responsibility and care

in other words guns are making America

more of a living nightmare.

Love, what is love? Everyone wants to know. Is it a feeling or emotion that we all yearn for? We may never know but we do know that we all want love. From God’s grace, to the human desire, and what the world needs is love.

In First Corinthians (13. 4-7) the apostle Paul said, “Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever truth wins out. If you love someone, you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand your ground in defending him.” So you can see that the Bible gives a clear understanding of what love is and what it is supposed to be.

This shows that God’s love is grace, and it is through knowing that God is love and his grace is a powerful thing. God’s grace transcends into love, although we may not all know what love is. From the Bible standpoint we have a clear definition of what love does or is supposed to do. Love can be forgiving and nurturing, showing support for someone or something. By doing this we are showing a sign of love that can be seen. Since love is an abstract thing, it is something that we can’t see.      It is through the power of God as he uses people to show love in a form that is more concrete. As Christians, we believe that we are saved by grace through faith and that is our key into the kingdom of God. So it is not by good deeds alone but by the grace of God through faith in him in which we find love.

It has been said that everybody wants and needs love. It’s a common universal theme that we all acquire, wanting to love and needing to be loved. From the time we are born to the time we die we want love. Whether as a parent or a child, we seek to nurture and to be nurtured. For example, when a child is born it comes into the world depending on the love and care of its parents. This is a natural way of life for us as human beings while we go through the cycle we call life. When we get older we strive to meet a special someone. Some call it a soul-mate while others call it a husband or a wife. It is through this process of life that we as people continue on our quest to seek and search for love.

Instead of a relationship of intimacy, we may seek friendship. When it comes to the same sex we still seek companionship. As we grow and go through life and our daily ventures of living, we want to be involved with others. While we go through our everyday activities, we look forward to meeting and being with people. Still we want to be loved and love others as a part of our daily lives as human beings, as we all have the human desire for love.

We all have heard the song “What the world needs now is love.”  That is a true statement. The world is a crazy place where we need to show love as a moral issue. For the most part we are all from different races, colors, and creeds. Still we need to show love. Life is short and some of us never have the chance to say “I love you” to someone. Rather it is because of life’s hectic rat race, trying to survive the storms we face in life, and being so consumed with ourselves, many times we forget to show love or concern for others.

Now we as people are all created equal because of God. No matter whether we are Christian, Hebrew, or Muslim, we are all God’s children. In fact, according to the Bible, (Gen 17. 5-8) it reads, “What’s more God told him, I am changing your name it is no longer Abram (Exalted Father’) but Abraham (Father of Nations’)- for that is what you will be. I have declared it. I will give you millions of descendants who will form many nations! Kings shall be among your descendants! And I will continue this agreement between us generation after generation, forever, for it shall be between me and your children as well. It is a contract that I shall be your God and the God of your posterity. And I will give all this land of Canaan to you and them, forever. And I will be your God.” Now all this comes about after Abraham had a child by Hagar who gave birth to Ishmael. So this shows that we as people, are all one. Being that we are all God’s children because of this we have ties that can bind us together with the greatest of factors being love. By this we should show grace, tolerance and most of all acceptance.

 Now knowing that the word love can mean many different things, regardless of whether it is abstract or concrete, it is love that is a common theme that we are all in need of. Whether it is the grace of God, the human desire, or that the world needs love, love is the most essential key to life. It is the most common emotion known to human kind. So it is that love itself is but a mystery due to the fact we can’t see it touch it or feel it in a concrete form, but we know it is there. Love is something that we all need. it is the only thing that will stand the test of time because it is of God and God is love.

getting through them only by God’s grace.

Tears so sweet from heaven on my face

with the joys and sorrows,

that somebody did not live to see tomorrow.

When we were all young

silliness was how we hung.

The Saga of Struggle

Oh, how great is the pain

because life is about change

as nothing stays the same.

The saga’s enduring cycles of drama

at this state of mind is a “mutha”

from hangovers

to being sober.

The anguish is never over

and the absolute defeat of reality

makes me a casualty

of the ongoing process that we call life.
